Personality: He’s pretty much a sadistic psychopath. He doesn’t see people as persons, as such, but rather more like wind-up toys to play with. He doesn’t care what they feel or it doesn’t even occur to him that they can experience pain. He also likes to see what makes them tick. Literally. It is a good thing to keep any and all pointy objects away from him, as he’s very stab-happy. Same goes with anything flammable or capable of making fire. He also doesn’t really mind getting hurt in the process, but not to say that he’d deliberately will hurt himself. He does enjoy inflicting pain on others, often in very cruel ways and dealing as much pain as possible.

He has quite a one-track mind. When he’s on a ‘I’m-having-fun’ episode, he’s just completely focused on achieving that goal, say, stab someone’s eyes out, and oblivious to everything else around him, even his own body getting hurt. Be careful around him because it doesn’t take much to set him off. If he suddenly decides he doesn’t like you, he will try to hurt you in any way he can. The only way to get him off his intention would be to knock him out. But when he’s in such an episode, he’s very energetic, so it’s not an easy job to do. Although, he does seem to have a fear for needles. Whether it’s for the needles itself or for the fact that it would knock him out, is unclear.

As for family or friends, well, he strongly hates his family, and doesn’t care much, if at all, for them. He doesn’t have any friends, nor feels the need to make any. He wouldn’t really be able to anyway as he fails to grasp the concept of normal human relationships.

Does he have an affection for anything? Most likely ‘shiny objects’, eg. a shiny dagger, or a flame, which is why he has the tendency to put things on fire if he has the capability to. In the same way, he also likes to see people bleed. The blood reminds him of rubies. He’s actually curious, if something catches and holds his attention anyway. It isn’t exactly a good thing to be the focus of his attention though.

History: His family guarded the tomb of an ancient Pharaoh for centuries, the tradition renewed in every generation. When a son reached the age of 10, the painful initiation rite would occur. Before that time, he was more or less a happy kid, despite the fact that he was forced to remain inside the guardians’ quarters and couldn’t live a normal life at all. He was scared of his father, who wouldn’t shy away from using force to get his point across, or rather, his strict rules. The man cared a lot more about tradition than the welfare of his family. Thus Malik was initiated with the mark of the Pharaoh’s memory, written on the stone tablet in the tomb, on his back, which was carved in with a hot dagger, after which it was filled with ink to form the tattoo.

The 10-year-old was terribly distressed from the pain, and to take his mind of it, to an extent, his older sister, Ishizu, took him outside, letting him spend a day ‘out there’. On one hand, it was probably the best moment of his life, on the other hand, it made him find out just what he was missing. It made him wonder just why those people deserved a normal life while he didn’t, and he started to develop the notion of ‘If I can’t have it, no one can’. It’s one of the reasons why he likes inflicting pain so much, even to the point of killing, besides the fact that he finds it fun to do.

However, the home-coming would be even more influential to his mental state. Their father was suspicious and had made an alarm at the trapdoor that led outside in order to know if someone left. Despite the siblings’ attempt to be home before their father would notice, he had indeed noticed. Malik came home to find their father beating up his best friend, Rishid, who was like a brother to him. Once their father noticed them, he turned the whip on Malik. Something within the boy’s mind snapped, and he caught the whip in his hand. He snatched the Millenium Rod from the altar, taking out the hidden dagger within it. With his newfound weapon, he repeatedly stabbed his father in non-lethal places to incapacitate him, but fulfilled his revenge by using the dagger to strip the skin off his father’s back before he finally slit the man’s throat.

Despite being horrified and terribly shocked, his sister and adoptive brother took him along outside to escape from the rest of the family. They fled to another country, another city often, but they found that they couldn’t control Malik anymore. They had to move every several months because Malik would attack a fellow school-going kid, or even a teacher or anyone that crossed him in some way, or not even that. In a desperate move, Ishizu had him taken to a mental hospital, hoping that somehow, they could make him normal again.

Symptoms: - Antisocial/Dissocial personality disorder: As mentioned in the personality section, he sees other people merely as toys, he doesn’t care that he hurts them, doesn’t feel guilty about it in any way, nor cares about any rules saying ‘you can’t hurt or kill anyone’ even if he is aware there is a punishment involved. It doesn’t require much to set him off in a rage, it could be even just a wrong comment. When he attacks someone, it never sees it as his own fault, for being ‘way too sensitive’ but their fault for provoking him in the first place. He also blames his family, especially his father for everything he did to him, and his sister for placing him in the asylum.

- Post-traumatic stress disorder: his cruelty and pain-inflicting tendencies stem for a great deal from how his family treated him, especially the initiation rite. He coped with the pain by giving in to anger and hate, becoming a different person entirely once he snapped.

- Mania: He has elevated emotion of rage and a strong obsession with pain, he’s very impulsive and becomes highly energetic once his anger is triggered, at which times he completely focuses upon his goal. Outside of those times, he’s easily distracted, and it may seem scary to anyone listening to where his mind wanders off to.
